The other day I asked my followers where I could find a burger for less than $10 near DTLA. Instead of a burger someone recommended I try this Cajun style pulled pork sandwich with Creole slaw from Little Jewel in Chinatown.

I’ve been working near Chinatown for exactly two years now but had never stepped foot inside Little Jewel for some reason.

This was a solid sandwich and at $8.50 it doesn’t get much more affordable.

Oysters at These L.A. Restaurants Made People Sick...

Locations, where people have reportedly been served contaminated oysters, range from swanky fine dining establishments and major grocery outlets to some of the city’s hottest new restaurants.

Earlier this month L.A. Public Health warned consumers about eating raw oysters from “certain areas of Mexico.”

In a press release sent on January 17, the department said they were aware of “150 suspected local cases of gastrointestinal illness linked to the consumption of raw oysters, likely caused by norovirus,” a highly contagious illness.

L.A. Public Health asked that anybody who got sick from “eating or drinking” something file a report with the agency. 

A day later I filed a public record request with the health department for all the reports that they received.

Yesterday they sent me a spreadsheet of more than 60 complaints.

This Pasadena restaurant has a $50 minimum

According to a new federal lawsuit, the owners of Entre Nous—Jean-Christophe Febbrari and Mathias Wakrat—“knowingly and willfully withheld a portion” of tips that were supposed to go to their workers.

There’s this restaurant in Old Town Pasadena that requires all diners to spend at least $50.

On top of that they also slap on a 20 percent service fee to all bills

The restaurant is called Entre Nous, which means “between us.”

Entre Nous brands itself as a “no-tipping” restaurant. But according to a new federal lawsuit, the owners of Entre Nous—Jean-Christophe Febbrari and Mathias Wakrat—“knowingly and willfully withheld a portion” of tips that were supposed to go to their workers, and instead used the money to fund business expenses.
